Every Coffee Cup has a Story...I hope this brings you encouragement today! This one is such a special reminder. Once it only brought me feelings of pain, shame, and what felt like a life of dreams lost. I didn't know what lay ahead for me but I knew it wasn't what I planned nor was it going to be a cake walk... At 20 years old... an emotional BROKE and Broken mess; I knew I only had 8 months to somehow find and furnish a home suitable enough for a baby. I landed a job as a property manager that covered the apartment and paid a small $300 every 2 weeks. So do the math...after bills that was next to 0 left for ANYTHING else. I remembered walking into Winn Dixie in Crawfordville with my Mama. They had the 10 for $10 frozen pizzas I craved and that was a major score on my budget!! Previously I spotted this set of dishes I wanted but they were out of budget for weeks... so, as I did every week I went back down the Homegoods aisle to see if they were on sale. This day in particular THEY WERE!! The whole set was on sale for $12.99 with my rewards card. I put my name brand cereal back on the shelf so I had enough money to cover them. Later that afternoon my Mother showed up at my apartment with my cereal. She told me she had not seen me smile like that since I came home and she was able to find enough change to get my cereal so I could use my new dishes. This cup is the LAST of those dishes. 🖤 Now when I look at this cup... It brings me peace, sentiment, joy, and encouragement. You see, NOW I can go buy ANY set of dishes I want, the name brand cereal, AND the "good" milk... I don't have to get the $0.35 off brand soda. (Though that Strawberry Check drink is Legit!!) If I want a Sprite or Coke I can go get one... or 5 cases. I drop an unspeakable amount of $$ for THAT BABY who is now 17 and eats the equivalent to 3 men that don't pay bills 🤣 and the list goes on. I've been able to send him to a Private Christian School and Advanced onto Pediatric Nursing and being his Varsity Cross Country/Track Coach. I knew my path was going to be hard...and at times it was unbearable but I held on.. I cried...worked... got pissed off...cried some more...worked my @$$ off and was the loneliest and lowest I had ever been. Now I have mornings like these... Though I wish more than anything I could share this cup of coffee with My Mama... the memory will have to do. My coffee is getting cold so I'll leave you guys with this... Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. I clung to this scripture... my future looks SO different than what I had planned but my heart is full and that bank account looks pretty good too. That baby just won a district championship and is an honors student. I have a job I love yet have Small Business and Home Ownership in my sights. Keep grinding and pushing!!! Hard work pays off!!! And you thought it was "just a cup" 🖤
